Wedding Prep

Well, last weekend was a bit crazy. Friday morning, Kristen was induced into labor with her baby. Ashley decided it was her job to get Kristen through, so she was at the hospital most of Friday and into Saturday. All that time, I was hastily cleaning the house. Saturday morning, my mother arrived, and I spent most of the day with her. In the afternoon, I received the call that Devin had given his mother some trouble coming out, but after an emergency C-section, mother and baby were both wonderful! Sunday I spent more time with Mom, and she came with me on my bus run to Boulder Reservoir. It was a great time, and she found several opportunities to use her new camera. Sunday evening, I went and saw Devin for the first time. Babies are just so tiny when they're first born!

This week I've been a working fool, but at least this time I'm choosing my hours. I need to get some money together for the holidays. I had a physics midterm on Tuesday night that went very well. This weekend has seen many last-minute preparations for Holly's and Chris's wedding. Jackie flew in on Friday afternoon, Saturday was the rehearsal and dinner. Today, the girls are getting nails and makeup ready. Tomorrow is the big day, and I think everything is ready.

I've spent the last couple of day's spare time setting up a project for Ashley. She would like to transfer her home videos on VHS cassette tapes to DVD. It's a great idea, but it will take some work. I've now set up a VCR and a capture card from Pinnacle, but so far I'm having problems. While I'm trying to capture the signal, the audio is fine, but the video is stuck on one frame, and that one frame only shows the top quarter of the picture. I'm sure there's some setting or patch I'm missing, and when I figure this out, I'm going to be very happy. Until then, this is going to bug me.

HL2!!!!!!

So I ended up staying up until about 1 AM on Monday night to try and wait for Half-Life 2 to unlock, but 1) I didn't realize that to unlock it I'd need to restart the update program, and 2) I think I left about 5 minutes before it actually did unlock. But that's ok, because I had class the next morning. So Tuesday morning I turned on the computer and let HL2 unlock while I was in class. Then I raced home (as fast as the speed limit would allow, of course) and sat down and got my first taste of the finished product. The anticipation was definitely worth it! Aside from eating and class, it's been almost my sole activity for the past 2 days! Let me just add, I HATE HEAD-CRAB ZOMBIES! But its still cool. Oh yeah, I got a B on my last Spanish test that I took Monday, but I still feel pretty comfortable. I've been keeping my overall grade high enough that I should be OK. Tired

Getting sleepy, but I had to inform everyone that I start at Transportation Services on Monday. Cool, huh? Oh yeah, and my car died at school, so now I have to get up early and acutally take the bus. And I had a brilliant idea, and now I have to find/make web badges for CU, if not a couple of other schools. Woo! Go me and my little fads. Yay! I got balloons last night! I was QA'd twice ...

Yay! I got balloons last night! I was QA'd twice last night (a Quality Assurance person listened to my calls and graded them), and I got 100% on both of them! That made me happy. I feel pretty comfortable on the phones, but the night never seems to end. Maybe being on the later shift will help pass the time. We'll see. I was not ready for chemistry this morning. I had no homework, and no lab goggles or long pants for the lab day. I was prepared for a very bad day. However, I was able to buy goggles in the student store, and he never asked for the homework, so it wasn't as horrible as I had thought. Money Money Money ! After a season of financial drought, I'm finally getting a little back. My parents sent what I asked for, and I should be getting my paycheck thru direct deposit tonight. Yes Mom, I plan on saving some. I'm even sending $50 of every paycheck to my New Mexico account by the direct deposit setup, so I can't touch it unless I really need it! Oh we...
